Mini Main Event poker tournament kicks off with $400K prize pool in sight

The Mini Main Event poker tournament has begun, with Day 1a kicking off at 4 PM on Thursday. This $400 No-Limit Hold'em (NLH) event, featuring a $330 + $70 buy-in, follows a similar structure to January's 4-Flight tournament, where Tyler Panas won over 1,565 entries and more than $516,000 in prizes. Organisers expect at least 1,300 players to enter by 6:15 PM on Saturday, pushing the prize pool beyond $400,000.

Day 1a starts the action, with players receiving 30,000 chips and 25-minute levels. A short 15-minute dinner break follows Level 12, and play continues until only 5% of the field remains or Level 22 ends. This flight, along with Day 1c, may run as late as 2:40 AM.

The tournament's structure ensures a long and competitive event, with all four flights playing down to 5% of the field or the end of Level 22. Day 1b and 1d offer slightly longer breaks and earlier finish times compared to Day 1a and 1c. The eventual winner will follow in the footsteps of Tyler Panas, who took home over half a million dollars in January's edition.
