The Merkur Spielbank Monheim casino officially opened its doors on Thursday with a star-studded gala. Over 1,700 guests attended the grand event, which included live entertainment, high-profile speakers, and exclusive performances. The evening marked the launch of North Rhine-Westphalia's fifth casino, a project completed in just eleven months.
The opening night began with official speeches from key figures. Paul Gauselmann, founder and chairman of the Gauselmann Group, called the casino his greatest career achievement. Monheim Mayor Daniel Zimmermann also spoke, expressing pride in the city's selection as the casino's location.
The red-carpet gala attracted celebrities such as Motsi Mabuse, Evelyn Burdecki, and Muriel Baumeister. Guests enjoyed a live concert, a high-stakes jackpot show with a €20,000 prize, and a performance by singer Patric Scott. International artist Leon Löwentraut also unveiled an exclusive artwork, discussing the connection between art and gaming.
David Schnabel, Managing Director of Merkur Spielbanken NRW, highlighted the casino's ambition to deliver an unmatched gaming experience. He also announced a 'Winner Week' following the Grand Opening, promising more live entertainment and gaming excitement. The project was developed through close cooperation between the Gauselmann Group and the state government.
The casino's construction took just eleven months, from planning to completion. With its grand opening now behind it, the venue is set to become a major entertainment hub in the region. The event's success reflects both the city's appeal and the Gauselmann Group's long-standing reputation in gaming.
