Meet ‘Reverend Doctor E,’ the Fun Captain Redefining Cruise Entertainment
Eversen Bevelle, nicknamed 'Reverend Doctor E', has taken on a new role as the Cruise Director of MSC World America. His energetic approach to entertainment has earned him the title of 'Fun Captain'. With over 15 years in the industry, he is now the first American to lead entertainment on MSC Cruises’ newest flagship.
Bevelle’s career in entertainment began in Decatur, Georgia, where he hosted high school pep rallies. After initially studying engineering, he switched to film and television at Alabama A&M. His first break came with an internship at DeKalb County DCTV, where he hosted live events and later auditioned for a job as a Georgia Lottery presenter.
In 2011, he transitioned into cruise entertainment, starting as an assistant cruise director on his first watch at Carnival. He made history as the first Black person in that role and quickly advanced due to his knack for making guests feel welcome. After 11 years at Carnival, he moved to MSC Cruises in 2024, becoming the first American cruise director on a brand-new flagship, the MSC Virtuosa. Before joining MSC World America, Bevelle led entertainment on the MSC Virtuosa. Earlier in his career, he worked as a cruise director for Royal Caribbean International. His nickname, 'Reverend Doctor E', originated from his lively bingo sessions and guests struggling to remember his name. As the 'Fun Captain', Bevelle aims to spread joy and create unforgettable moments for passengers on his carnival cruise. His work reflects a commitment to Black excellence, ensuring every guest feels valued and entertained.
Bevelle now leads MSC World America’s entertainment team, bringing decades of experience to the role. His journey—from high school events to cruise directing—shows a dedication to making people happy. The 'Fun Captain' continues to redefine cruise entertainment with energy and inclusivity.
