Man Sues Bellagio After Alleged Assault Following $2,600 Jackpot Win
Joel Vargas-Gutierrez is suing the Bellagio casino after an alleged assault following his $2,600 jackpot win. He claims three people attacked him on the gaming floor and that security personnel did not intervene in time.
Vargas-Gutierrez was celebrating his win when the incident occurred. He alleges that the attackers targeted him after he moved to another slot machine. Despite his cries for help, security personnel did not intervene promptly, allowing the assault to continue. As a result, Vargas-Gutierrez is still dealing with mental distress and physical injuries.
He is now seeking a judgment exceeding $15,000, along with legal fees, interest, and punitive damages. Vargas-Gutierrez is suing the Bellagio for negligence and negligent security, holding them responsible for the inadequate protection provided. Additionally, he is pursuing legal action against his alleged attackers for battery, assault, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Vargas-Gutierrez's lawsuit highlights the importance of adequate security measures in casinos to protect patrons. The Bellagio and the alleged attackers are yet to respond to the lawsuit, which is ongoing.
