More Major Wins and Strong Sales at Lotto Thuringia - Lotto Thüringen’s 2025 boom: Record wins and digital growth fuel success
Lotto Thüringen has released its financial results for 2025, showing strong growth in key areas. The state lottery generated around €184.1 million in revenue, just under the previous year’s record. A total of €87.9 million was paid out in winnings, with five new millionaires created in Thuringia alone.
The organisation also boosted public welfare funding, directing €58.4 million toward local initiatives. New digital services and retail support played a major role in its performance.
The year began with a focus on digital expansion. In May, Lotto Thüringen launched its official app, leading to a 10.3% rise in online ticket sales. Players also gained more flexibility with GlücksSpirale payouts, choosing between monthly payments of €10,000 for 20 years or a €2.1 million lump sum.
Retailers received extra backing from April, including higher commissions and financial aid for new outlets. A mobile sales point opened at the Werner-Aßmann-Halle on 30 August, linking lottery purchases to sports sponsorships. These changes contributed to seven major online wins throughout the year.
Prizes reached new heights in 2025, with 28 jackpots exceeding €100,000—a record for the state. The largest win, €15.3 million, was shared between a Thuringian and a Hesse player. Overall, the number of lottery millionaires in Thuringia rose from three or four in past years to five in 2025.
Investments in technology and retail expansion helped sustain growth, even as total revenue dipped slightly below 2024’s peak. The organisation’s strategy combined digital innovation with stronger support for local sellers.
