Lethbridge's Christmas charity drives bring holiday joy to thousands in need
Christmas charity drives in Lethbridge have brought holiday cheer to thousands this year. Local organisations worked hard to ensure children and seniors enjoyed gifts, meals, and support during the festive season.
The Salvation Army, Lethbridge Family Services, and the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization (LSCO) all played key roles in spreading kindness. Their efforts included toy drives, fundraising campaigns, and special events to help those in need.
The Salvation Army's Christmas kettle campaign exceeded expectations by raising $238,000—around $18,000 more than their $220,000 target. The funds will support families, ensuring hundreds of children wake up to toys on Christmas morning.
Lethbridge Family Services' Angel Tree fundraiser also saw success, helping over 3,000 children. The campaign aimed to raise $180,000, with each gift bundle valued between $80 and $100.
Meanwhile, the LSCO's Golden Giving Tree brought joy to 207 seniors this year. The organisation will also host a Christmas Day dinner open to anyone in the community who wishes to attend.
These efforts are part of the broader Christmas Hope campaign, which includes food banks, toy drives, and other charitable initiatives across the city.
The combined work of these organisations has made a real difference for many in Lethbridge. Families received gifts, seniors enjoyed festive surprises, and a free Christmas meal will be available for all.
With fundraising goals surpassed and thousands supported, the holiday season has been brighter for those who might have struggled otherwise.
