Les Ambassadeurs Sues Saudi Sheikh Over £4M Casino Debt

London’s exclusive high-stakes casino, Les Ambassadeurs, has taken legal action against an 82-year-old Saudi sheikh, Hassan Enani, over an unpaid £4 million debt. The case, which began in 2020, has drawn attention due to its scale and the prominent figure involved.

Enani, a prominent Saudi businessman and philanthropist, has been a regular at Les Ambassadeurs since 1994, with annual membership fees exceeding $30,000. In 2019, the casino demanded repayment of Enani's debts, issuing a check for £4 million which bounced. Despite a court ruling in Les Ambassadeurs' favor in 2021, Enani refused to comply and disappeared. Before cutting off communication, Enani transferred £200,000 as a 'goodwill' gesture.

The sheikh's assets include a lavish palace in Saudi Arabia, a 60-meter yacht valued at around £15 million, and a six-pool villa in Marbella, Spain. Despite these riches, there is no publicly available information about his current whereabouts. Les Ambassadeurs has encountered similar disputes with wealthy clients who have 'forgotten' their losses.

Enani's case stands out for its drama and the vast wealth involved. The 82-year-old sheikh, who has funded the construction of the Hassan Enani Mosque in Jeddah, has left the court ruling unaddressed. Les Ambassadeurs continues to seek repayment of the £4 million debt.
