Las Vegas Poker Scene Heats Up With Major Tournaments and High-Stakes Drama
Major poker events are set to take place in Las Vegas over the coming weeks, with tournaments at Resorts World, The Orleans, and Planet Hollywood. The North American Poker Tour (NAPT) is wrapping up its latest series, while new festivals and high-stakes action draw attention across the city.
The NAPT will conclude its series at Resorts World on Wednesday. This year's Main Event attracted 738 players, a drop from 895 in 2024 and 1,095 in 2023. Rumours now suggest the tour may not return to the venue next year.
Meanwhile, Resorts World faces uncertainty about its poker operations. Declining foot traffic has sparked speculation that the casino might close or outsource its poker room. No official plans have been announced regarding leadership changes or third-party management. Elsewhere, The Orleans Casino has revealed its Winter Poker Open schedule, running from November 28 to December 21. The series guarantees over $1.5 million in prize money. A special Battle of the Sexes event on December 12 will offer a $2,000 bonus to the winner. At Planet Hollywood, Allen Kessler's Chainsaw Mixed Series of Poker continues until November 20. Robbie Strazynski's Mixed Game Festival is also on the calendar, taking place at Resorts World from November 16-20. High-stakes action recently unfolded at Wynn Poker Room, where Boston Jimmy's game saw a dramatic clash. Mariano and Nik Airball battled over a massive pot after a flopped straight flush.
The NAPT's future at Resorts World remains unclear as attendance declines. Upcoming festivals at The Orleans and Planet Hollywood promise significant prize pools and unique events. High-stakes games and ongoing series ensure Las Vegas stays busy for poker players in the weeks ahead.
