Las Vegas loses another poker room as Resorts World exits by 2026
Las Vegas is seeing another poker room close its doors as Resorts World shuts down its tables by the end of March 2026. The decision comes amid falling tourism and a broader decline in gaming revenue across the city. Once home to 31 poker rooms before the pandemic, the Strip will soon have just eight left in operation.
Resorts World announced its poker room closure as part of a shift toward new entertainment options. The move follows a drop in visitor numbers, with February 2026 tourism down by 7.5% compared to the previous year. Gaming revenue has also suffered, with January figures showing an 11% decline from 2025.
Poker's role in casino earnings has shrunk over time. In 2024, it contributed less than 2% of annual revenue at typical Strip casinos. Younger players, in particular, have turned to online gambling, reducing demand for physical poker tables. Despite the closures, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) still draws large crowds to Las Vegas. The event remains a major attraction, even as standalone poker rooms disappear from the Strip.
The closure of Resorts World's poker room leaves just eight remaining on the Strip. With tourism and gaming revenue both in decline, casinos are rethinking their offerings. The shift reflects changing habits, as more players move from live tables to digital platforms.
