Komi Republic’s new meat-processing hub transforms local agriculture with regional funding
A new meat-processing workshop has opened in the village of Pozhegdin, Komi Republic, thanks to funding from the regional People’s Budget program. Sergey Eldin, the Minister of Agriculture and Trade, recently visited the facility, which is operated by the agricultural cooperative Pozheg in Ust-Kulomsky District. The project marks one of eight agricultural initiatives supported by the program in 2025 across seven municipalities.
The workshop was built and equipped by Tekhnokhold Ural, a Yekaterinburg-based company, at a total cost of 3.998 million rubles. Of this, 2.098 million rubles came from the cooperative itself, with the remainder covered by regional funding. Staff underwent specialised training to prepare for production, ensuring a smooth launch.
Since its opening, the facility has expanded Pozheg’s output beyond raw meat. It now produces a variety of goods, including cut meat, minced meat, dumplings, and meatballs. As of January 12, 2026, the cooperative manages 535 head of cattle and generated over 30 tons of chilled meat and slaughter products in 2025. The cooperative sells its products at weekend fairs in Syktyvkar, Ust-Kulom, and Troitsko-Pechorsk. Mobile trade units also distribute goods across Ust-Kulomsky District and nearby areas. The initiative aligns with the People’s Budget program, overseen by Komi Head Rostislav Goldstein, which funds local agricultural development projects annually.
The new workshop strengthens Pozheg’s production capacity and diversifies its market reach. With continued support from regional programs, the cooperative aims to expand its operations further. The project reflects ongoing efforts to boost local agriculture through targeted funding and infrastructure development.
