Kazakhstan’s Bold Casino Expansion Aims to Revitalize Tourism and Local Jobs
Kazakhstan is set to expand its casino industry into four new regions. The move follows a public survey showing most residents do not oppose the idea. Officials believe the plan will boost tourism and local economies.
The government announced the expansion in late 2025, targeting Mangystau, Almaty, Jetisu, and Ulytau. Until now, casinos were limited to Burabay and Kapchagay. Local authorities will now choose exact locations based on infrastructure readiness.
Each new casino is projected to bring in 2-3 billion tenge in annual news revenue. The venues are also expected to create around 500 jobs per site. Tourism Minister Yerbol Myrzabosynov stated the goal is to attract more foreign visitors.
A public survey conducted earlier indicated broad acceptance among residents. The findings helped push the plan forward without significant opposition.
The expansion will see casinos operating in six regions in total. The government anticipates higher news income and employment opportunities. Foreign tourist numbers are also expected to rise as a result.
