Justin Baldwin's exposed hole card sparks drama in Sheffield poker tournament

The 2026 PartyPoker Tour is underway in Sheffield, featuring a £40,000 guaranteed prize pool. Early action saw an unusual hand involving Justin Baldwin, a poker player and co-owner of a new Melbourne poker room alongside Alex Foxen, Ben Merk, and Ari Engel. His hole card was accidentally exposed before the deal even began.

The hand kicked off with George Achillea opening the betting from the Lo-jack for 800. Christopher Briddon then called from the Cut-off, bringing the action to Baldwin.

Baldwin, holding pocket eights, made a three-bet to 2,000. Both Achillea and Briddon called, taking the pot to the flop. There, Baldwin continued with a 3,000 bet, prompting his opponents to fold. After securing the pot, he revealed his eights.

Following the hand, Baldwin's stack grew to 47,500 chips. The exposed card at the start added an unusual twist to the early stages of the tournament.

The tournament continues with Baldwin holding a solid chip position. His early aggression and the exposed card incident have already made this event memorable. Players will now look to navigate deeper into the competition as the £40,000 prize pool remains in play.
