Information Ministry enters final drafting phase of 2026-2030 media strategy
Kuwait’s Ministry of Information and Culture has unveiled a new media strategy designed to modernise the sector. The plan focuses on professional growth, public trust, and digital innovation—all in line with the New Kuwait 2035 vision and sustainable development targets. Developed through a structured, participatory process, the strategy aims to reshape media practices over the next decade.
The project began under the guidance of Minister Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi and Undersecretary Dr. Nasser Muhaisen. Their directives set the foundation for a collaborative effort involving ministry employees, media professionals, and external partners.
Research formed a key part of the process. The team held discussions with content creators, universities, media institutions, and civil society groups. Over 480 hours were dedicated to interviews, surveys, and panel discussions, ensuring a broad range of perspectives. An internal volunteer initiative was also launched to bring in national talent. Participants underwent an 80-hour training programme, covering strategic planning and analytical skills. This prepared them to assess the media landscape’s strengths, weaknesses, and future trends up to 2030. The strategy itself combines qualitative and quantitative analysis. Its development followed a scientific approach, blending data with expert insights. Current work focuses on defining the vision, goals, and action plans—complete with performance indicators and a monitoring system to track progress.
The finalised strategy will set clear directions for Kuwaiti media, emphasising responsibility, innovation, and alignment with national goals. With structured training, extensive research, and ongoing evaluation, the initiative seeks to build a more dynamic and trusted media environment by 2030.
