India and Israel deepen ties in tech, defense, and trade partnerships

India and Israel are strengthening their partnership across trade, technology, and defense. Both nations are leveraging their strengths—India's rapidly growing economy and Israel's innovation—to expand collaboration in key sectors. Recent years have seen stronger ties in agriculture, infrastructure, and emerging technologies.

The relationship between the two countries has grown steadily since Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed Israel's Knesset, highlighting shared ambitions. A 2022 Memorandum of Understanding on defense cooperation reinforced long-standing security ties, while new multilateral platforms like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor and the I2U2 framework are creating fresh opportunities for joint projects.

Agriculture remains a standout success, with Israeli expertise in precision irrigation and water management helping Indian farmers improve productivity. Meanwhile, innovation-driven sectors such as quantum technologies, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence are becoming focal points. The iCreate Technology Business Incubator in India, established in 2018, has already supported over 50 Indian startups through Israeli investments, partnerships, and tech transfers, particularly in agritech, healthtech, and cybersecurity.

Trade and investment flows are also expanding, with negotiations underway for a Free Trade Agreement. Both nations are exploring joint infrastructure projects, aiming to combine Israel's cutting-edge solutions with India's large-scale implementation capabilities.

The India-Israel partnership continues to evolve, blending innovation with scalability. As negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement progress, the focus remains on high-impact sectors like defense, agriculture, and advanced technologies. These efforts are expected to drive further economic growth and strategic cooperation between the two nations.
