Hungary's Top Ministers Back Israel at Pro-Israel Summit

The Center for Fundamental Rights hosted its third International Pro-Israel Summit in Budapest, Hungary, on 28 October. The event saw prominent speakers, including Hungarian Minister of Education Yoav Kisch and Minister of Defence Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, express support for Israel and criticise Hamas' use of civilians as human shields.

The summit, held at the Museum of Ethnography, began with Director General Miklóš Szanthó's opening address. He honoured Adolph Zukor, the Jewish-Hungarian American founder of Paramount Pictures, and praised Hungary's resistance to progressive manipulations, describing it as 'the only country with common sense in the EU' and 'Israel's only reliable ally in the EU'.

Kisch, the responsible Minister of Education in Israel, thanked Hungary for its support and urged the EU to stand firmly with Israel in the conflict. He also welcomed Hungary's zero tolerance policy for antisemitism and praised Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as 'a true friend of Israel'.

Szalay-Bobrovniczky described Hungary as 'the country of perseverance, dignity, and faith' and Israel as 'both a friend and strategic partner'. He urged the EU to support Israel in the conflict. Yair Netanyahu, son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, participated in a 'fireside chat', stating that Israel's geopolitical position has improved after the 7 October attacks.

The International Pro-Israel Summit in Budapest highlighted Hungary's support for Israel, with key ministers expressing solidarity and condemning Hamas' actions. The event also praised US President Donald Trump's potential for bringing peace to the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
