High-Stakes Poker Duel: Teng Folds Aces to Achillea's Set at ppLIVE Sheffield

The ppLIVE Sheffield Main Event witnessed a tense showdown between Andrew Teng and George Achillea at the final table. Teng, an experienced player with nearly $1.5 million in live tournament winnings, entered the day as the short stack but still secured third place for £10,630. The decisive hand unfolded in Level 23, with blinds at 20,000/40,000 and Teng holding nine entries in the event.

The hand began with Teng opening to 80,000 from under the gun. Achillea, in the Big Blind, called, taking the pot heads-up to the flop. The board showed 2♦7♣8♥, and both players checked.

The turn brought an 8♦, pairing the board, but again, neither player bet. On the 6♣ river, Achillea fired out a large bet of 300,000. Teng paused before mucking his hand, revealing A♠A♦—a strong pair that ultimately folded to Achillea's aggression.

Achillea turned over 7♠7♥, winning the pot with a set of sevens. After the hand, his stack grew to 1,000,000, while Teng was left with 900,000. Despite the loss, Teng's performance across the tournament earned him a total of £121,485 in prizes.

Teng's third-place finish added another notable result to his career, bringing his total live earnings closer to $1.55 million. The clash with Achillea marked a key moment in the final table, shifting chip stacks before the event's conclusion. Achillea, meanwhile, strengthened his position with the significant pot win.
