Heating not working - Apartment complex in Göttingen uninhabitable? - Göttingen High-Rise Residents Face Evacuation Over Malfunctioning Heating

A high-rise complex in Göttingen faces potential evacuation due to a malfunctioning heating system. The building's majority owner, Nassauische Heimstätte, has filed for insolvency, adding complexity to the situation. Residents have been without heat since March, with the city stepping in to ensure temporary heating.

The heating system in the high-rise has been inoperable since the end of the last heating season. The property management has remained silent on the issue, despite attempts by the German Press Agency (dpa) to contact them. The complex, known for its high rents, has a history of problems, including structural defects and pest infestations. A 36-year-old single mother of four is among the residents affected by the lack of heat.

Residents may soon be allowed to hire their own technicians to repair the heating if the property management fails to act. Lawyer Sven Adam has taken legal action, suing the city to declare the building uninhabitable and relocate residents. The city has agreed to keep the building heated until the end of the current season.

The high-rise complex in Göttingen remains unheated, with residents facing uncertainty. The building's condition has deteriorated over the years, and the heating system's failure has exacerbated the situation. Legal action is ongoing, and the city has stepped in to provide temporary heating. The future of the complex and its residents remains uncertain.
