GMC Launches 'Mayabini' Hearse Van Service Honoring Late Singer Zubeen Garg
Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has launched a new hearse van service, 'Mayabini', in honor of late singer Zubeen Garg. The service, introduced under Federal Bank's SCR initiative, aims to preserve Garg's legacy and provide free transportation of deceased bodies with dignity to locals. The 'Mayabini' hearse van, also known as 'Muktirath', was inaugurated on Tuesday by Assam Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah and City Mayor Mrigen Saharia at a public gathering in Guwahati. The service is named after Garg's popular song 'Mayabini'. GMC plans to expand this service in the future. The first of three additional hearse vans will be named after Zubeen Garg's favorite tree, the 'Nahor' tree. The next planned hearse van is titled 'Zubeen van', further honoring the late singer's memory. The 'Mayabini' hearse van service is now available free of charge to Guwahati locals, ensuring deceased bodies are transported with respect and dignity. GMC's expansion plans aim to continue Garg's legacy and improve services for the community.
