Globe and CANVAS Transform Digital Safety into Family Fun for Safer Internet Day 2026
Globe Telecom joined forces with the Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development (CANVAS) to celebrate Safer Internet Day 2026 with a unique event. Held at the National Museum, the gathering centered around teaching families about digital safety, AI, and responsible technology use. Children, parents, and educators participated in storytelling sessions, discussions, and hands-on activities, designed to make complex topics more accessible.
The event, named The Secret Digital Map: Exploring AI and Online Safety for Families, built upon Globe's ongoing partnership with CANVAS. It drew inspiration from the children's book Safe Space: A Kid's Guide to Data Privacy, available in both English and Filipino. Globe representatives Derick Ohmar Adil and Karen Panisales led talks on responsible AI use and data privacy, encouraging families to develop safer digital habits.
Privacy Commissioner Atty. Johann Carlos S. Barcena of the National Privacy Commission (NPC) emphasized the need for vigilance in protecting children's privacy online. Meanwhile, Annette Ferrer, Deputy Executive Director of CANVAS, underscored how art and storytelling can raise awareness among young audiences about digital issues. Atty. Irish Saladanan-Almeida, Globe's Chief Privacy Officer, reiterated the company's commitment to helping families navigate the digital world with confidence.
The activities aimed to simplify technical concepts, making it easier for families to discuss online safety in everyday conversations.
The collaboration between Globe and CANVAS for Safer Internet Day 2026 equipped families with practical tools to comprehend digital risks. The event underscored the significance of education in promoting safer online behavior. While no other recent initiatives by Globe on digital safety for children have been reported, the book Safe Space continues to serve as a resource for families.
