Germany-Ghana School Partnership Expands with New Youth-Focused Funding

A long-standing school partnership between Germany and Ghana has entered a new phase. The exchange programme, now funded by the German-African Youth Work (DAJW), offers greater flexibility and a stronger focus on balancing contributions between Northern and Southern partners. The collaboration began nearly a decade ago with a shared vision of mutual learning.

The partnership was launched in 2015 by a development policy association in Berlin-Friedrichshain. It connects the School for Adult Education (SfE Berlin) with the Ghana Permaculture Institute (GPI) in Techiman. Known as SONED, the initiative operates under the motto ‘Learning from each other’, with both sides contributing distinct expertise.

The partnership continues to evolve, with ongoing exchanges and practical projects in sustainable development. Funding through DAJW now provides more room for youth-focused activities and a more equitable distribution of resources. The programme remains committed to its original goal of shared knowledge and cooperation between Germany and Ghana.
