Geisa Launches Inclusion Network to Boost Accessibility
The Geisa region has launched an Inclusion Network Initiative, aiming to promote equal participation for all residents. The project received substantial financial backing, with the UNESCO Rhön Biosphere Reserve covering 90 percent of the €14,000 cost. Mayor Henkel stressed the importance of inclusion, highlighting that around 23 percent of people in the Wartburg district live with a disability.
The initiative, established with the help of antonius – Netzwerk Mensch Fulda, has already implemented free social counseling sessions and inclusion training for the city administration. The strategy was developed over a year, involving broad public participation through workshops and discussions. It identifies three key areas of action: improving social participation, removing barriers, and promoting inclusion in daycare centers and schools.
The unveiling event was held at the Anneliese Deschauer Gallery in Geisa, attended by local dignitaries including Ulrike Schade, Manuela Henkel, and Angela Zimmermann. André Literski of antonius opened the event, marking the start of a new era of inclusivity in the region.
The Inclusion Network for the Geisa Region has been established to plan further initiatives in leisure, culture, and sports. With the support of the UNESCO Rhön Biosphere Reserve and the dedication of local officials, the initiative aims to dismantle barriers and ensure equal participation for all residents.
