Gambling Spend Skyrockets by 18% in Denmark for February

Gambling activity in Denmark rose sharply in February 2024, with total spending reaching DKK 587 million. This marked an 18.3% increase compared to the same month last year. At the same time, more people signed up to exclude themselves from betting through the national self-exclusion register, ROFUS.

Online casinos saw the biggest growth, bringing in DKK 278 million—a rise of 18.53% over February 2023. Betting activities also climbed significantly, with gross gaming revenue (GGR) hitting DKK 178 million, up 32.55% from the previous year.

Land-based gambling performed steadily. Gaming machines generated DKK 100 million, a 1.85% increase, while physical casinos took in DKK 32 million, up 7.01%. Meanwhile, self-exclusion registrations grew. A total of 48,685 people signed up with ROFUS in February, 5.9% more than in 2023. Of these, 37,603 were men and 11,082 were women.

The figures show a clear trend of rising gambling expenditure across most sectors in Denmark. Self-exclusion numbers also continued to grow, reflecting ongoing demand for responsible gambling tools. The total spend of DKK 587 million represents the highest February total recorded in recent years.
