Free Gaelic Children’s Bible Brings Language and Faith to Life Across Scotland
A new Gaelic children’s Bible, the Lion Share A Story Bible, has been distributed for free across Scotland and beyond by the Scottish Bible Society. The initiative aims to help families explore Bible stories while learning the language. Over 1,500 copies have already reached homes in Scotland, Canada, and Spain.
The Church of Scotland’s Gaelic Committee launched an audio version narrated by Angus MacDonald, accessible via a QR code printed inside each copy. Pupils at Uig Primary School inserted QR codes into 700 of the Bibles.
The project also includes a Lego Christmas story video, available in both Gaelic and English with Scottish accents, as part of Project Pentecost. Schools and teachers can access this resource for free. More Lego Bible story videos are planned, covering Jonah, Lazarus, and David and Goliath.
The free distribution of the Gaelic children’s Bible has sparked interest from multiple countries. With audio support and upcoming video releases, the project provides new ways for children to connect with the language. Schools and families now have additional resources to explore Gaelic together.
