Foxwoods Resort Casino to Debut Yamashiro's Immersive Japanese Dining in Connecticut
Foxwoods Resort Casino is set to welcome a new Japanese restaurant to its Connecticut location. Yamashiro, a well-known name from Hollywood Hills, will open its doors as the first branch in the Northeast. The announcement comes as the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation marks Foxwoods' 34th year in operation.
The original Yamashiro Restaurant first launched in 1912 in the Hollywood Hills. Designed by Frederick Fisher, a notable Los Angeles architect and businessman, it became famous for its Japanese-style hilltop mansion and sweeping views of Hollywood landmarks. Over a century later, the brand has expanded beyond California, with a second location in Miami.
The new Yamashiro at Foxwoods will offer more than just dining. Its interior will blend 'artful Japanese-inspired cuisine' with a 'dramatic setting', creating what Foxwoods President Jason Guyot calls an 'immersive dining' experience. On Friday and Saturday nights, the space will transform into a nightclub featuring live DJ performances.
While the Hollywood Hills location holds a 3.6 out of 5 rating on Yelp—with some guests criticising the food as overpriced for its quality—the Connecticut venue aims to bring a fresh take on the concept. Construction is underway, with plans to open within the next year.
Yamashiro will become the third location for the brand, following its original Hollywood Hills site and a Miami outpost. The Foxwoods addition will introduce a mix of dining and nightlife to the Northeast. Once complete, it will join the resort's growing list of entertainment and hospitality offerings.
