Former PM Deve Gowda Expresses Concern, Plans Visit to Flood-Hit Karnataka
Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda has expressed grave concern over the severe flooding in six districts of Kalyana Karnataka, with over 50 lives lost and significant infrastructure damage. He plans to personally visit the affected areas within the next three to four days to assess relief efforts and report back to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gowda, a Rajya Sabha member of the Janata Dal (Secular) party, has demanded that the Karnataka government provide a detailed account of flood relief measures within 48 hours. He has urged the government to treat the flood situation as an emergency priority and refrain from politicising the issue.
Gowda has also announced a poll alliance between his party and the BJP for all upcoming elections in Karnataka. The JD-S aims to secure at least 50-60 seats in the upcoming civic polls in Bengaluru. Despite political differences, Gowda has stated that his relationship with Prime Minister Modi remains unchanged and positive.
Deve Gowda's visit to the flood-affected areas will help evaluate the government's response and ensure adequate support for the victims. His call for unity in addressing the crisis reflects his commitment to the people of Kalyana Karnataka. Meanwhile, his party's alliance with the BJP signals a strategic move ahead of the upcoming elections in Karnataka.
