Expert poker strategies reveal when to bet—and when to fold

Poker strategy experts Alex Fitzgerald and Kasey Lyn Mills have shared key insights on continuation betting in recent discussions. Their advice focuses on exploiting opponent tendencies and adjusting bet frequencies based on board textures and position.

Kasey Lyn Mills highlights the importance of c-betting out of position, particularly when opening from early position. On boards like A-Q-6, she recommends a high c-bet frequency after facing a call from the button. However, on lower, connected boards such as 5-6-7, she suggests checking more often in the same scenario.

Alex Fitzgerald takes a different approach by emphasising turn aggression. He argues that many low-stakes and mid-stakes players assume you miss on low-card boards. By betting the turn, he treats it as the real continuation bet, exploiting their misconceptions about hand strength. Both strategies aim to counter common opponent mistakes. Mills focuses on board-dependent adjustments, while Fitzgerald targets psychological weaknesses in weaker players.

These techniques provide players with clearer guidelines for c-betting and turn play. Mills’ board-specific approach contrasts with Fitzgerald’s focus on opponent perception. Together, they offer practical ways to refine post-flop strategies in cash games and tournaments.
