Disney Unveils MagicBand+ and 'Hey Disney!' for a Tech-Powered Summer Adventure

Disney is rolling out two new digital experiences for guests this summer. Walt Disney World Resort will introduce MagicBand+ and the 'Hey Disney!' voice assistant in time for the 50th anniversary celebrations. Both features aim to add more interactivity and convenience to park visits and hotel stays.

The MagicBand+ wearable will launch first at Walt Disney World Resort before arriving at Disneyland Resort later this year. Some functions may differ between the two locations. Guests can expect light-up effects during nighttime shows, along with interactive games like Disney Fab 50 Quest and Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters. The band will also bring statues and sculptures to life through special animations.

The 'Hey Disney!' digital assistant will be available for purchase through the Alexa Skills store for supported Echo devices. It will offer character interactions, storytelling, and helpful information for guests staying at select Disney Resort hotels. While no official release date has been confirmed for the voice assistant's hotel rollout, Disney has stated it will work alongside MagicBand+ in the future to create even more immersive experiences.

Both features will remain available beyond the 50th anniversary celebrations.

MagicBand+ and 'Hey Disney!' will expand how guests engage with Disney parks and resorts. The wearable's lighting and game features will change nighttime entertainment, while the voice assistant adds character-driven help in hotel rooms. Disney has not yet set a specific date for the assistant's full hotel launch, but both technologies will stay in use after the anniversary events.
