Dhaka’s vibrant cultural festival unites 12 universities in creative showcase

A national cultural festival recently concluded at BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) in Dhaka. The event, organized by the university’s cultural club, brought together 12 universities for a two-day celebration of youth creativity and campus culture. Twelve Clothing presented the festival, which featured competitions, performances, and interactive activities.

The festival showcased a wide range of artistic disciplines. Competitions were held in music, drama, dance, fine arts, creative writing, and recitation, alongside a fashion runway show, stalls, and flash mobs. A total of 18 awards were given across six categories.

American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) secured first place in both the music and recitation categories. Jashore University of Science and Technology won the dance competition, while the University of Dhaka (DU) took top honours in drama and creative writing. Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology was awarded first in fine arts.

The closing ceremony was attended by Faruque Hassan, chairman of the BUFT board of trustees, as chief guest. Professor Ayub Nabi Khan, acting vice-chancellor of BUFT, and film artiste Shatabdi Wadud were also present as special guests. The event was sponsored by Sayor Restaurant, Essential Buy Sell, and Doel OTT, with support from partners including Mbrella, Styleway BD, Focus Cam, and Promises Medical Limited.

The festival provided a platform for students to display their talents and engage in cultural exchange. With 12 universities participating and 18 awards distributed, the event highlighted the diversity of youth creativity in Bangladesh. Organisers and sponsors contributed to its success, reinforcing the importance of inter-university collaboration in the arts.
