Daniel Maor triumphs in PGT True Classic with clutch ace and pocket plays
Daniel Maor has taken down the PGT True Classic Rags to Riches tournament, outlasting 164 opponents to claim the title. The high-stakes event carried a $3,300 buy-in and attracted some of poker’s toughest competitors.
Maor entered the final table with an average stack but soon faced pressure as his chips dwindled. The turning point came when he doubled through Calvin Anderson, holding ace-ten against Anderson’s ace-queen. Later, he secured a massive lead by flopping a full house, crushing Anderson’s top pair.
At the final table, Maor battled seasoned players like Jared Jaffee, Michael Wang, and Anderson again. His decisive moment arrived when he eliminated Anderson for good, winning with pocket kings against a suited ace. The heads-up match against Terry Fleischer sealed his victory—Maor’s pocket nines held strong against Fleischer’s ace-king.
The win earned Maor a $110,000 prize, cementing his place as the tournament’s champion. His strategic play and key hands against top rivals proved decisive in securing the title.
