Commerce Casino Shelters Wildfire Victims as California Blazes Rage On

Wildfires in Southern California have left five people dead, destroyed over 1,000 buildings, and forced more than 130,000 residents to flee. In response, Commerce Casino and Hotel is stepping up to support its staff, their families, and the wider community during the crisis.

The casino, home to the world’s largest cardroom with 320 tables, has launched emergency measures to assist those affected by the disaster.

The casino has opened its hotel rooms to employees and their families under mandatory evacuation orders. This move aims to provide immediate shelter and stability for those displaced by the fires. Staff in need of help have been directed to contact the Human Resources department for further assistance.

To ensure clear communication, the casino is sharing updates in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, and Chinese. The goal is to reach as many affected individuals as possible with vital information.

Beyond supporting its own workforce, Commerce Casino is working with local emergency services and relief organisations. Partnerships with the American Red Cross and fire protection agencies are helping to expand wildfire relief efforts across the region.

This isn’t the first time casinos have faced wildfire threats. Last February, two Oklahoma casinos near the Kansas border were evacuated due to an approaching blaze. The current situation in Southern California, however, has prompted a more coordinated response from Commerce Casino to address both immediate and long-term needs.

The casino’s efforts focus on offering comfort and security to employees while contributing to broader recovery operations. With wildfires continuing to impact the region, its support for displaced families and collaboration with relief groups remain critical. The initiative underscores the casino’s role in helping the community navigate the ongoing crisis.
