Cody Stanford dominates 2025 Gulf Coast Poker Awards with historic double win

The 2025 Gulf Coast Poker (GCP) Awards celebrated its biggest year yet with a dedicated ceremony and 15 categories. Cody Stanford took centre stage by winning both the Main Event and the Player of the Year title. The event also honoured the late David 'Atom Bomb' Hendrix with a special award in his name.

Cody Stanford secured his second Poker Gras Main Event victory at Caesars New Orleans. His win earned him over $27,000 and cemented his dominance in the tournament. Later, he also claimed the 2025 GCP Player of the Year award, adding to his impressive record.

Mark Davis was recognised for his steady performance across multiple GCP events. His consistency earned him the 2025 GCP Tour Player of the Year title. The ceremony also paid tribute to David 'Atom Bomb' Hendrix, a beloved figure in the poker community. In 2010, a year after his passing, the 'Love of Poker Award' was renamed the 'David Hendrix Love of Poker Award' to honour his legacy. This year, Prissy Giroir received the award for founding Ladies of GCP, a new organisation supporting women in poker. For the first time, the GCP Awards included a full party and ceremony. The expanded event featured 15 different categories, making it the largest celebration in the tournament’s history.

Stanford’s double victory and the introduction of a dedicated awards ceremony marked a milestone for the GCP. The event also highlighted community contributions, with Giroir’s win recognising her efforts to grow women’s poker. The 2025 edition set a new standard for future tournaments.
