Canada's 2026 poker boom kicks off with record-breaking main events

The first half of 2026 will bring several major poker tournaments to Canada, though no large-scale live events have been announced beyond June. Recent wins and upcoming series are already drawing attention, with players securing career-high payouts and venues preparing for high-stakes competitions.

Brett Goodall recently claimed victory in Casino Niagara's $1,200 Winter Main Event. The tournament attracted 678 entries, building a prize pool of $690,543. Goodall took home $127,264, surpassing his previous bestβ€”a third-place finish in the 2025 WSOPC Toronto Seniors event, which earned him $14,929. Anderson Frank-Graham finished second in the same competition, collecting $89,225, the largest payday of his career.

Playground will host its first WSOP Circuit series from March 23 to April 7. The event guarantees over $5,500,000 in total prizes, including a $2,500,000 Main Event. Just days later, Deerfoot Calgary will run the Spring Super Stack series from April 8-19, featuring a $1,500 Main Event.

Before these, Casino Regina's Station Poker Classic will take place from March 17-21. Buy-ins range from $500 to $1,800, catering to a wide field of players. Looking ahead, Casino Niagara's Spring Main Event, scheduled for May 19-22, promises one of Ontario's largest prize pools of the year.

The coming months will see multiple high-profile poker tournaments across Canada, with guaranteed prize pools exceeding millions. Players like Brett Goodall and Anderson Frank-Graham have already secured significant wins, while venues prepare for major events in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. No further large-scale tournaments have been announced for the latter half of 2026.
