Bulat Utemuratov Foundation wins EUROBAK Award for transformative community projects
The Bulat Utemuratov Foundation has been recognised for its wide-ranging social initiatives, winning the EUROBAK Awards 2025 in Corporate Social Responsibility. Recent projects include an ambitious plan to restore the Aral Sea’s dried seabed and the opening of a $20 million community centre in Koshchy, which has quickly become a local focal point.
One of the foundation’s most innovative projects involves using E-seed technology to revive the ecosystem of the Aral Sea’s former seabed. The effort aims to combat decades of environmental damage in the region.
In Koshchy, the new community centre has drawn large crowds since its launch. The facility offers clubs, cultural events, and educational lectures, with visitor numbers surpassing early expectations. The foundation has also made strides in autism support. Its Autism. One World for All programme has trained over 300 specialists, now working at Asyl Miras centres nationwide. Since 2015, the initiative has provided free services to 17,000 children across 12 cities, backed by $16 million in funding. In Astana, the foundation donated 500 modern apartments to families in need. The flats, valued at 10.5 billion tenge, feature high-speed lifts, facial recognition entry, and underground parking. Further projects include the groundbreaking of the Palace of Schoolchildren in Zhezkazgan, a future hub for youth talent development. Meanwhile, the 7th International Conference The Birth of Turkology celebrated the 50th anniversary of Olzhas Suleimenov’s Az-Ia, with a new edition published through the foundation’s support.
The foundation’s work spans environmental restoration, education, and social housing. Its recent EUROBAK Award highlights the scale of its impact across Kazakhstan. Ongoing projects, from autism programmes to cultural initiatives, continue to expand access to essential services and opportunities.
