Bold Women Leading Change: 2024 Academy Awards Finalists Revealed
The shortlist for this year's academy Awards has been announced, recognising women who blend commercial success with transformative leadership. The awards, the longest-running international honours for women in business, feature two categories: the Bold Woman Award and the Bold Future Award.
Among the finalists are high-profile names like Kanya King CBE, founder of the MOBO Group, and Paula MacKenzie, chief executive of PizzaExpress.
The Bold Woman Award celebrates established leaders who drive change beyond their core industries. Kanya King CBE, founder and CEO of the MOBO Group, joins the shortlist alongside Smruti Sriram OBE, CEO of Bags of Ethics, and Paula MacKenzie, who leads PizzaExpress. Past finalists in this category have launched impactful initiatives, such as Anja Eisenkolb's 2024 "Green Future Labs" in Berlin, which trained 5,000 women in circular economy skills. Similarly, Maria Gonzalez founded "EduAccess Africa" in Nairobi in 2025, providing digital education to 10,000 underserved girls. Lena Müller also initiated the "Climate Change Health Network" in Munich in 2025, focusing on community resilience against climate-related health risks.
The Bold Future Award highlights rising talent with bold visions. Alisha Fredriksson, co-founder and CEO of Seabound, is nominated alongside Marisa Poster, co-founder of PerfectTed, and Josephine Philips, founder of SOJO. Previous winners of these awards have come from diverse fields, including finance, science, retail, and culture, reflecting the broad impact of women in leadership roles.
This year's finalists continue the tradition of honouring women who push boundaries in business and beyond. The awards will showcase their contributions, from sustainability and education to climate change action and innovation. Winners will be announced in the coming months.
