Blizzard unveils six-phase PvP roadmap for WoW Classic with epic rewards
Blizzard is rolling out Player versus Player (PvP) content in World of Warcraft Classic over six phases. The plan begins with basic features at launch and expands to include ranked systems, battlegrounds, and high-tier rewards. Players will progress through a structured system matching the original game's Patch 1.12 design.
The first phase introduces unrestricted NPC hunts in Stranglethorn Vale, while later updates will add ranked competition, honor mechanics, and epic gear.
Phase I starts with simple PvP interactions, allowing players to hunt NPCs in Stranglethorn Vale without penalties. Dishonorable Kills will not be punished during this stage.
Phase II brings deeper mechanics, including Honorable and Dishonorable Kills, alongside a 14-rank progression system. Ranks range from Scout up to High Warlord, with rewards like tabards, trinkets, and epic-quality gear. Players aiming for the top ranks—Grand Marshal or High Warlord—must earn 60,000 Honor Points while competing against others on their realm. Battlegrounds will arrive in later phases. Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley launch in Phase III, followed by Arathi Basin in Phase IV. Phase VI ties PvP objectives to open-world zones like Silithus and Eastern Plaguelands, coinciding with the release of Naxxramas. The full schedule mirrors the original game's gradual PvP expansion, ensuring a steady increase in challenge and rewards over time.
The phased release gives players time to adapt to PvP mechanics while working toward high-tier rewards. Each stage introduces new content, from battlegrounds to ranked competition, culminating in endgame objectives. No official data exists on how many servers may have a single High Warlord, but the system encourages long-term progression and rivalry.
