BetMGM wins ‘Online Casino of the Year’ and secures Massachusetts license

BetMGM has been named 'Online Casino of the Year' at the 2022 American Gambling Awards. The company, a leader in U.S. online gaming, also secured a key license in Massachusetts after a late application.

The 2022 American Gambling Awards recognised BetMGM for its strong growth and innovative approach. Judges highlighted its wide selection of games, player engagement tools, and a multi-brand marketing strategy. As the exclusive sports betting arm of MGM, it holds a 30% market share in four states.

Meanwhile, MGM Springfield faced delays in applying for a retail sportsbook license in Massachusetts. Augustine Km, vice president of MGM Resorts International, explained the setback. He cited a separate process for online sportsbooks and a rushed timeline as the main reasons. Despite this, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission approved the late submission.

BetMGM now operates with a new license in Massachusetts and a fresh industry award. The company’s market position remains strong, with continued expansion in U.S. sports betting and online casino gaming. The late approval ensures its retail sportsbook can move forward in the state.
