Bally's Casino Chicago hits halfway mark with sleek glass tower rising

Bally's Casino Chicago is taking shape as construction hits a key milestone. The project's hotel tower has now reached its halfway point in height, with the first glass panels installed. Once complete, the £1.7 billion development will bring a luxury casino, entertainment venues, and a riverside park to the city's River West area.

The casino complex is being built on the former Tribune Publishing site. Plans include a 500-room hotel, over 3,000 slot machines and gaming tables, a 3,000-seat theatre, and multiple restaurants. A public park with an extended riverwalk will also form part of the development.

Workers have now installed the first glass panels on the hotel tower. This step marks a shift from structural construction to the building's sleek, reflective exterior. The design aims to mirror the Chicago River, adding a modern touch to the skyline.

Since 2023, Bally's has operated a temporary casino at Medinah Temple. That site has already become one of Illinois' busiest gaming locations. Despite potential legislative delays for the interim venue, the company remains focused on finishing the permanent complex as planned.

The entire project carries an estimated price tag of £1.7 billion. Once open, it will turn River West into a major hub for hospitality and leisure in the city.

The installation of glass panels signals steady progress toward completion. When finished, the casino will offer gaming, live entertainment, and riverside dining in a single location. Officials have yet to announce an exact opening date for the new venue.
