Balashikha refreshes 130 stairwells with safety and style upgrades

Balashikha city district has completed renovations in 130 apartment building stairwells as part of a wider urban air improvement scheme. The work was carried out in 2025 under the regional programme Creating a Modern, Comfortable Urban Environment.

The upgrades covered essential repairs and modernisation. Walls and ceilings were patched, repainted, and restored, while cracks and chips in surfaces were fixed. Lighting systems were replaced with newer, more efficient models, and mailboxes were updated. New doors were also installed at entrances and vestibules.

Electrical panels and entryways were brought in line with current safety standards. Some buildings received extra design touches, including mural paintings and decorative features around elevator portals. The project fell under the Moscow region’s urban development plan. Elena Sorokina, coordinator of the initiative, supervised its rollout in Balashikha from 2020 to 2024. The 2025 renovations marked the latest phase of this ongoing effort.

The completed works have refreshed stairwells across 130 residential buildings. Improved lighting, structural repairs, and updated safety features now meet all modern standards. Additional decorative elements in select locations further enhance the appearance of shared spaces.
