ASI and Yakutia Collaborate to Boost Birth Rates, Address Housing Concerns

The Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) is collaborating with the Russian Federation's subjects, including Yakutia, to boost birth rates and promote traditional family values. A recent meeting chaired by Aisen Nikolaev, the Head of Yakutia, discussed new initiatives to support families and fertility in the region.

ASI provides methodological support to improve regional programs and has proposed implementing corporate standards, like those set by 'AK 'Polar Airlines', to enhance housing conditions for families. The primary concerns preventing families from having more children in Yakutia are housing and mortgage-related issues, with 32% due to lack of personal housing and nearly as many due to long-term mortgage repayment.

Grigory Sayfullin presented a comprehensive plan for Yakutia's cooperation with ASI, consisting of 5 blocks and over 160 events, focusing on supporting families, fertility, and large families. The Far East, including Yakutia, is prioritized in these support measures due to its vast and important territory for the country. ASI and the government of Yakutia have been working together with regions like the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Krasnoyarsk Krai, and Irkutsk Oblast to improve family demography. Olga Kurilova, an ASI representative, attended the meeting and thanked the Head and government of Yakutia for their joint work. Following the project-analytical session, a plan will be developed to implement the agreement between the government of Yakutia and ASI on supporting families, fertility, and multiple births. In 2024, Yakutia ranked 26th in the country for creating a quality environment for life, overall satisfaction with the social sphere, and the place where people live. Student families should be focused on, and cooperation with educational institutions strengthened to create acceptable conditions for young mothers and fathers.

The meeting in Yakutia marked a significant step in the collaboration between ASI and regional authorities to support families and improve fertility rates. The proposed plan aims to address housing concerns and strengthen support for student families, ultimately fostering a more family-friendly environment in the region.
