A Belated Valentine's Service Celebrates Love Through Music and Symbolism
A Valentine's service took place on Saturday at St. Albanus fortified church in Kaltensundheim. The event drew around 50 visitors to celebrate love in its many forms. Held later than the traditional date, it gave attendees time to reflect on the meaning of love and renewal.
Guests arriving at the service each received an unpolished stone. This simple object became a symbol of transformation, as participants later exchanged their rough stones for polished ones. The act represented hope and the renewing power of love.
A candle lighting ceremony honoured loved ones who have died. Soft light filled the church as names were remembered. The service also included a reimagined version of the Apostles' Creed, framed as a declaration of love.
Music played a central role in the event. Tanja Jahnel performed emotional pieces like Dir gehört mein Herz and Because You Are the Love of My Life. The programme also featured well-known songs such as Take Time to Live, You Raise Me Up, and Side by Side. Between performances, a reading from Matthew 5:14–16 reminded everyone of the call to be 'the light of the world.'
The service closed with blessings, leaving attendees with a sense of warmth and connection.
The belated Valentine's gathering at St. Albanus offered a moment of reflection through music, symbolism, and shared remembrance. Attendees left with polished stones as keepsakes, carrying the theme of love's enduring renewal. The service provided a quiet space to honour both past and present relationships.
