172 traffic violations exposed in Märkischer Kreis crackdown on unsafe driving

Traffic police in the Märkischer Kreis district carried out a large-scale enforcement operation on Tuesday. Officers focused on roads in Halver and Schalksmühle, checking for violations and unsafe driving behaviour. The crackdown resulted in 172 recorded offences within a single day.

Speeding was the most common offence, with 105 drivers caught breaking limits. One motorist stood out by exceeding the speed limit by 29 km/h. Another 26 drivers were penalised for distracted or reckless behaviour, including phone use, red-light running, and illegal turns.

Four individuals were found driving without a valid licence. Their vehicles were immediately immobilised. Police also logged 28 cases of improper load securing, breaches of social regulations, technical defects, or failures in hazardous goods transport rules. Notably, no drivers were found under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Authorities reminded the public to stay alert and follow traffic laws. They also confirmed that similar operations would take place in the future.

The enforcement blitz highlighted persistent issues like speeding and distracted driving. Police will maintain these targeted checks to improve road safety. Drivers are urged to remain vigilant and comply with all regulations.
